Silverfish w/out Stronghold

I am playing FTB Ultimate, and just encountered about 20 silverfish blocks underground. What is this caused by? Is there something of importance close by that area or is it just random?

Extreme hills biome. There's also emeralds.

So random silverfish spawns happen in that biome? Is there any list of what specials each biome has? I knew about the emeralds but not the fish :/

My frame miner hasn't encountered any of those yet AFAIK. Fortunately.

They form in a few exbl biomes as well because I assume they're based on the same code.

On the same note these same biomes have MASSIVE amounts of emeralds in them all ripe for the fortune 3 picking

And to know if you've come upon one you can break the block by punching it. Or using anything. It's all the same.

There's witches in swamps, cacti and desert temples in deserts, cocoa and jungle temples in jungles......

But you probably didn't wanna hear that.

The only other ores that are biome specific are GT ores, namelly bauxite (meadows / forest), rubies (hot biomes) and saphires (water biomes)

I was meaning in terms of random spawns. I know vaguely of witches though have yet to find one. And GT ores are familiar to me. I was just shocked to run into silverfish without a stronghold.
