For the record, with iron electron tubes, electric engines are perfectly efficient. It is the normal 2.5 eu = 1 mj ratio.Electric engines are inefficient and less flexible.
With that, they're inefficient in materials and space.I would go with power converters.

Why space? all you need is the engine, the cables, and the redstone signal. With that, they're inefficient in materials and space.
Did you use energy conduits? They have losses.Power converters are not always good tho.
I wanted to power my refinery with 6 mj/t but the converter automaticly used 30 eu to create 12 mj ...

Power converters convert perfectly and don't have any losses.
Exactly - 3 blocks per 2 MJ/t for electric engines. 3 blocks per 500 (?) MJ/t for power converters. Why space? all you need is the engine, the cables, and the redstone signal.
Ooooooh, i see.Exactly - 3 blocks per 2 MJ/t for electric engines. 3 blocks per 500 (?) MJ/t for power converters.
