Should i Be Getting More FPS On FTB?!?!

So currently on Direwold20 i get around 30fps and major lag, but i feel i may be doing something wrong, i mean its a fairly new pc, here are my specs:
AMD A8 7650K Quad Core Processor / CPU running at 4.2GHz
8GB DDR3 1600Mhz RAM
AMD RADEON R7 Graphics
1TB Hard Drive MSI A68HM "Grenade" uATX Motherboard

Which modpack? Some are more laggy than others.

Is it laggy in a new world, or just well-established ones?

Modded minecraft in 1.7 can be very laggy. I call 30 fps in my base "very good" and try not to stress about it too much.

Same issue here. I do get higher FPS after a few minutes of playing though. When the world is just created it takes a bit.
