Short but Regular freezes

  • Tech Support section is for getting help with FTB related problems. If there's a repeatable issue that can be labeled as a bug, then please use the issue tracker for the pack or the app at GitHub issue trackers - If there's no repository for a pack that means that the pack is old and/or will not be updated. Bugs for older packs will not be fixed, unless they are critical.

Title Short but Regular freezes

Launcher Type Twitch Desktop App

Modpack Direwolf20 1.12.2

Modpack version 1.9.0

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file http://paste.feed-the-beast.com/view/a838ee7d

Details of the issue Several minutes after loading a world, I experience annoying freezes where my fps will drop to 0 for a second before returning to normal.
I have followed every step I can find including enabling forced multi-threaded chunk rendering and I have tried increasing the amount of ram to 8gb (My system has 16gb). none of these have made any difference, I have tried increasing the ram to 10gb but it made no difference.

From analysing the F3 Profiler graph and Frame Time Graph I have noticed that Sound Jumps up in the amount of resources it uses whenever there is a lag spike. I have been unable to find the mod/block/event which is causing these.

Since I struggled to find anyone else with this same issue, I am hopeful that this can be fixed or at least minimised.

This is the same problem I'm having. This seems to be a new problem. When searching for a solution I've seen about 5 other people having this issue all within the past week.

I am also having this problem, I saw a solution to do with disabling sounds through the control panel .... not ideal as minecraft without sounds is gunna be pretty bad.
I have tried a few different modpacks, also different versions of each pack, freezes persist throughout.

If I remember correctly from that post, that issue/solution wasn't the sounds - the issue was with antivirus software.

For you others - original poster - and bobrob - make sure you're using the latest java version (java 8 and 64-bit), then switch to jar launcher on the twitch app.
Instructions:
https://imgur.com/a/0wVhh

About memory allocation:
For 1.7.10-packs and older 2,5-4gb
For 1.10-packs and later 4-6gb

Giving too much will cause issues, so sort that out as well.

If you got any 3rd party antivirus software on your machine, make sure to whitelist/add exceptions to java and to the game folder.

If you still have issues after this, post new log.

If you're not the original poster - create your own thread/topic and provide information and logs.
