The didn't remove ALL mana petals - just the version of the petals where you used to drop them into a Mana Pool and receive a "Mana-Infused Petal". The regular petals (from the flowers) are still in the game. One thing we noticed, however... turning Botania Petals into the powder version by using the mortar and pestle, well that powder has lost its ability to act as dyes in this modpack for some reason. Botania "petal powder" used to be the best source - the easiest source - of all the dye colors. They DO work for coloring the OpenBlocks Elevator blocks... but they do NOT work as a substitute for any dye in any recipe. Very disappointing, but no idea who is to blame for that change, the mod itself or the modpack...

And I hear ya brother, regarding doing Thaumcraft research tree for the ninth or tenth or twentieth time. At some point, Thaumcraft will just die because the entire modded minecraft player community is gonna refuse en masse to jump thru the research hoops AGAIN. JUST SAY NO! lol It's a great mod, don't get me wrong... but I'm sure most will understand perfectly what I mean. Dentvar understands, quite clearly. LOL Best solution to this recurring problem in modpack land? These two webpages, they're the best we can do if we do not have access to Creative mode:

I hated research the first time, nevermind any other subsequent times.

I have used both these sites in the past liberally.

This was already the case in 2.2.2 or at least for the recipe I tryed so I´m not sure if this is a current update "bug" or already old.

I just saw the TC5 Spotlight DW20 did on Youtube last week, and this has changed to a better system. Give it a look. But for Infinity Evolved it comes late.

I did use the TCResearch helper and also the other list, thats already basic for me :)
But still with this tools its annoying to get stuff.
I do not want to give me a full research eather cause there are stuff in higher tier I did not get to in other worlds so I will need to get there on my own. But for the first once I would have no problem to use cheats.
I´m Server admin so Creative is no problem. Still I have no clue how I can get a spesific research without knowing its IDName for the Cheat command.
Thats the list I need.

Other wise I could just cheat me enough researchpoints to at least just copy pase from the research helper side but well... still will take me some hours tapping around :(

Before I post this in the bugs section...has anyone experienced crashes while attempting to place a botania runic altar?

I've tried twice: each time I right-click the altar onto the ground, my game immediately crashes to desktop and produces a crash-log referencing a lack of memory. << no it doesn't.

After a bit more testing: Works fine "outside" my base, but if I try to place it where I actually want it (the roof of my base), it crashes. Doesn't seem to be because of the tile I'm placing it on (cobblestone), that works fine outside.

edit: this log appears to be relevant

That runic altar hates your base. I don't know how many people will know how to read that Java crash log

Indeed :)

This is the most crucial part:
Code:
[LIST=1]
[*][error occurred during error reporting (printing native stack), id 0xc0000005]
[*]

[*]Java frames: (J=compiled Java code, j=interpreted, Vv=VM code)

[/LIST]

Stack traces are "stuff at top happened most recently." In this case the thing crashed while attempting to render the altar.

Anyway I created an error report in ftb support.

My suggestion might be totally stupid, but have you tried using Java 8? I'm thinking that's a possibility.

Its not stupid at all. I did try that shortly after posting and I thought it was helping for a sec, but when I placed a second altar, blam, crash again.

Also updated my AMD Drivers but no improvement. That said, its hard to tell which files are the actual driver files on their site, and which are just software updates for their "Gaming Evolved" stuff, bleh.

Hmmm, has anyone else reproduced this yet?

Guys now that my game has magically stopped crashing, I've made an altar for blood magic. I don't know blood magic unfortunately and the guides I see may not apply to this pack.

I'm supposed to craft a sacrificial knife, but I don't believe it exists in this pack. There's a dagger of sacrifice, but it requires LP.

Is this "sacrificial orb" the entry point to blood magic?

I watched the Direwolf20 mod spotlight for Blood Magic and he has guided me thru what I needed to do to get started, so those videos are relatively current despite being almost 2 calendar years old. Should go without saying, but just check all recipes in NEI. The concepts are still the same.

My own progress update: I'm here on the forums posting because I accidentally picked up a stack of Plutonium out of my UU Matter Replicator. No, I did not have my rubber boots on. LOL 12 minutes of H-E-L-L, so yeah... here I am, for the next 12 minutes. IC2, I love you.

hah, awesome. Plutonium ftl.

Is it normal that I got all my Runes back when I successfully made my runic Matrix? I didn't expect that at all.

Does anyone know how to use the ftbutils as a replacement for opis?
never heard of it :\

Regarding my TC progress, I have an infusion altar. Any recommendation for what type of balancing items I should surround the thing with?

In the past I've used tons of candles, not sure if that's the simplest route.

Last I knew, any stabilizer is as good as any other. The only difference is aesthetic and placement rules. Skulls are good, as their placement options are easy to get along with. Candles are renewable, so that makes them a nice option in certain circumstances. Shard clusters can be hung from floors/ceilings which is useful, and compliments the aforementioned candles nicely.

The most important rule is having symmetry in your stabilizers. An unbalanced setup is actually detrimental rather than helpful.

I have no idea how you did adwanved so fast.. how you got in 2,5 hours from the standard blood Altar to the Infusion matrix? Oo and without knowing about Blood magic....
I was at the same spot sunday. And took me around 6-7 hours playtime to get there.

Alone the mana cost for the Matrix was insane. Also making tons of runes of capacity and the blood infused arcane blocks (slates? did like 1000 and cant even remember the name lol)

Mana is essentially free once you achieve the ability to run an Ender Quarry with top tier Speed Upgrade 24/7/365

I have almost 1 million coal and another 100K Coal Blocks. I haven't made 1000 Endoflames to use it all, but I certainly could do so. I only have 4 Endoflames actually. But it's trivial to automate an OpenCrate/Hopper and just keep making mana around the clock. I could spam my little 4-flower setup 500 times if I wanted to. The problem is how to STORE all the mana... Mana Tablets are not a good answer. Right now, I am using up all the mana each morning when I log on, making Terrasteel with it.

So progress update - currently I'm wrestling with the Terrestrial Agglomeration Plate. I complained, probably two years ago, to the Botania developer that it is very poor game mechanics to have players attempting to throw 3 items onto a floor block... because quite often 1 of the 3 misses the mark. I've even had 2 instances where they begin on the plate, the conversion process begins, and then one of the items falls OFF the plate and the process halts mid-stream and aborts, and I waste a lot of mana.

It makes me clench my teeth that we still have the same mechanic in the mod. Very aggravating. And yes, I know I can rig up an Open Crate above the plate and drop my items onto the plate that way. Talk about jumping thru hoops... not a fan, and never will be. Simple as that. I was going thru this same aggravation almost 2 years ago with this mod. I am NOT a magic mod type of player, I am a tech mod guy.

My bad, I should have clarified: wanted to know which stabilizers were the cheapest. Skulls are valid? Then those are the cheapest since I have chests full of the damn things.
Candles on the other hand require lots of wax which requires lots of crucible work when I don't have a distillation setup together yet.

How are shard clusters constructed? If they don't require lots of vis I might do those too, they're nice looking.

Tier 2 blood altar but honestly I don't think it was that quick. The trick was doing everything else while the runic matrix was cooking. I had three mana spreaders feeding the runic altar and that alone took forever.
By the time it was done I had everything else ready to go.

Except for a place to put the runic altar. Even tho the rest of my base is a cobble-and-dirt nightmare, my infusion area needs to be reasonably nice and pretty.
