When the defeated Nether Dragon drops an egg, it it a Nether Dragon Egg or randomly generated? Also, can hatched dragons be make to product Dragon's Breath?

Ender Dragon? The dragon egg is always the same. The type of dragon you get is based on the blocks around the egg when you hatch it. So if you want a lava dragon you need lava. And no they dont shoot dragon's breath

Have a look here for some info on how to convert the dragon eggs to any of the 8 different egg types.
When I first tried for the forest dragon I placed the egg on willow leaves & it did not work - then changed to oak leaves and worked fine
- so not sure if this needs to be done on vanilla leaf types.
