SF3 crashing when putting speed upgrade in transfer node

Details of the issue I'm semi-new to modded minecraft, so I'm not terribly far into my Sky Factory 3 map, some basic stuff. I set up an automated dirt maker, box of leaves connected to transfer nodes into barrels. I saw you could make it fill up the barrel faster by adding a speed upgrade, so I made one and every time I put it into any transfer node, my game crashes.

The log file says to try it without the mode Brandon's Core, which I can do, though haven't done yet because I don't what it does and I'm worried a chunk of SF3 won't be there anymore if it's gone.
