Windows .exe Setting up FTB for first time, issues

I opened FTB for the first time, and set it to Recommended version for Unleashed and clicked Launch.

It asked me to update. When I said yes, it got me to roughly 1000kb/135000kb, then changed to a ~950kb, then said "Error downloading modpack!" before completing. Same thing happened for Direwolf.

What do I do now?

Did you follow the recommend install guide exactly? Once you have followed the guide if you are still experiencing problems please post a console log in debug mode to pastebin.com and link to it here. Look here for more info about the logs.

Yeah, found another thread with same issue, said to check the basic troubleshooting post.

Good news: Temporarily disabling AVG got it done.

That is a know problem. Sometimes it just sticks there. The only known thing to do is to try a force update. Look here for more info. Also if you continue having trouble with the download check out the guide again under the heading 'Other USEFUL Information:' about AVG and other AV programs. Just an FYI your setup is not recommended and you are liable to have more problems down the road, please see the guide.
