  • Windows 10 64x
  • I'm using my own computer to run the server and client.
  • Running nuts and Bolts Torqued-1.6.4.7
  • No additional mods added
  • Specs:
i9 9900KF with 12 GB of ram dedicated to playing the server, and 12 gb of ram dedicated to hosting the server.
  • I installed the server pack through twitch and ran the ftbinstall. the window closed within 3 seconds with no errors or pause so I assumed everything was set. After which I went to run the start bat and I ran into problems with java versions and paths. since then I have fixed those issues by installing java version 8 update 251. now when starting the server I am faced with a different issue and that is this...

Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM warning: Ignoring option PermSize; support was removed in 8.0
    Unrecognized VM option 'UseParNewGC'
Error: Could not create the Java Virtual Machine.
Error: A fatal exception has occurred. Program will exit.

Here is also a image of my settings file.

Any help would be much appreciated! I really don't want to have to stoop to purchasing hosting after upgrading my rig to 32GB

12 gb for the client is way too much - lower that to 4-6gb

For the server 12gb is fine, but that might as well be lowered to 4-> gb all depending on number of players and actual load on the server.

With that said, can you post full log from the server?

../logs/latest.log and use https://paste.feed-the-beast.com and share the link.

Thanks for the advice. However I have plenty of ram and I don't want my server having memory problems as 4 is NOT enough for the amount of automation I tend to run and for the 7-10 people online.I will be sticking with the 12GB for the server. As for the logs, how do I get the logs? I have no file or folder called log in the entire directory.

About the ram - even if you have enough, lower for the client - it will just cause lag and other issues for you.

The server is fine to set more, but there's no need to overdo it - keep it low and give it more when there's actually a need for it - not "just because you can" :)

I see your issue, you have installed your server on your desktop and your desktop is part of your onedrive. Move it out from the onedrive folder structure, example c:\games\SERVERNAME or other drive. Also don't move it to any other pre-created systems folder.

If there's still issues, post new information - log if there's one created this time around.

Thanks for the updates. I actually fixed the issues and forgot I posted here as I posted in many different forums. Anyways the server runs with no issues from my desktop and all that it took was to use the correct java as expected. I saw some bad advice telling me elsewhere to use idk instead of jre folder. After that I used some advanced nvm arguments and my server is running like a champ with 10gb and my client at 10 also. Both using nvm arguments to handle the garbage collection.

Just make sure to have backups - Onedrive can cause files to lock due to the sync mechanism, making your server unresponsive, if you're unlucky it may crash without saving progress - or corrupt your world.
