Hi all.

I've had an Infinity map server running v1.3 of the pack for quite some time, and had no problems whatsoever.

Yesterday I updated it to 1.5, the server seems to have lost of manners of stability, and it's crashing and restarting an averge of every 15-20 minutes, and I can't pinpoint what the hell is wrong.

I tried to poke my host about it, maybe they have a more granulated breakdown of the server logs (there' a lot of crap to sift through) and I got this reply:

FTB Infinity 1.5.1 is a very unstable modpack that is very well known to cause an infinity of problems as it contains a lot of experimental and alpha mods that do not work well with each other.
We have not found a single customer that has not have problems with this modpack, regardless of the machine the server was hosted on, the world the server was using or any other external factor.
Moreover, all those problems have also been reported at the official FTB forums as well as other forums dedicated to modding Minecraft.

Thoughts?

There's a reason it's not a recommended build yet... I wish people would stop updating long-term worlds to the latest and expecting it to work.

I wish people would check things before throwing random accusations.

Mine says 1.5.1 on the launcher too... Still on 1.4.1... You have to manually update it to 1.5.1

I checked 600 times, and even installed FTB on a virgin PC. 1.5.1 *IS* the recommended build.

However I'll take your advise and slap it down to 1.4.1, and see how it goes.

Hmmm, must be a bug on my end then!

We need logs to help the 1.5 issue then, log into your server with file access and go to "crash-reports" they'll be in there. Don't take the host's nonsense of "it's a buggy mess not our problem".

Funny thing is .. downgraded to 1.4.1 and it has been running for 30 mins without incident.

I'll stick to it until 1.5.x matures a little.

It is also showing a lot less CPU and RAM usage this time around. Something is definitly wrong with 1.5.1.

I have to agree with all that you are reporting. I could run 1.4.1 for weeks without a restart. 1.5.1 crashes almost daily with a Java out of memory heap space error. Going to try out 1.6.1 here and hopefully that will solve the issues.

1.6 ran better but not perfect. I ended up updating to Java 8 and changed the garbage collection it was using.

I'm now on 1.7 and running quite well on my box.
