Server Hosts?

Hi, I'm new to the whole server hosting thing ... i have used my home pc as a host for me and my friends for the last year or 2 ... or 3, i forget, anyway, I'm thinking its time to upgrade.
I am currently running a sever on my pc, which has been fine, and runs FTB fine, but crashes every now and again, and has some pretty dier lag spikes.

I am looking to run a server, just for me and few friends max, so no more than 4 players at a time really.
I was wondering what kind of specs would I have to get a server to run smoothly with a max of 4 players, with no lag at all.

Any advice would be great
