I've hosted a Vanilla server fine, but I was wondering about FTB hosting. Do you think 2 GB RAM 13 Down and 1 Up is enough for 2-8 people with FTB? (Unfortunately 1 Up is the highest available in my region.)

Not unless you severely restrict age generation, and don't even think about dimensional doors when / if it gets put in a pack. Besides those things FTB in general is much more taxing on hardware than vanilla.

The memory might be enough, but the upload is not even close. You want 1 mpbs upload per player, download speed doesn't matter all that much, although a decent amount is still required.

If you want to host from home you will need higher upload somehow, but here are your other options:

If you have a decent amount of money and know how to run a server, here are good dedicated boxs: https://www.ovh.co.uk/

If you want a simple FTB with little effort: http://www.creeperhost.net/

I don't think the 2GB is going to hold in the 2-8 player range.

And there will be some lag when people are exploring if all 8 are online at the same time from the 1meg up.

But it all really depends on how often you have how many people around.

I recommend just using a third party server host. The server I play on is hosted using Fragnet. It costs the admin $20/month for 1GB dedicated RAM, and it seems to work great. I rarely get any lag issues.
