Hi all,
I need a little guidance with our FTB - Monster server. I've had 2 different servers running and am plagued by the "can't keep up, is the server overloaded" messages. We only have 3 people online. I'm trying to determine if its a host issue or a mod pack issue.
Currently I am using Exodushosting on the 3GB package. This is a shared minecraft hostng platform.
Their server specs are:
E3-1270v3 Processors
32GB DDR3 ECC Memory
240GB Solid-State Drives
1Gbps Connections
Everything seems fine with only one or 2 of us on. Sometimes things are fine with 3 of us and everything runs smooth. But randomly I will start to see blocks reappearing and then I log into the control console and see the 'can't keep up' spam. I am unable to adjust the startup parameters and am using their Bukkit startup script but the FTB .jar file. There is no way to see what the actual allocations are. Opis is not giving any idications of issues.
I am suspecting the issue is just an oversold service causing the lag during heavy usage and am considering another host or hosting myself.
My old FTB Ultimate running on the same server never had any of these issues with 6 people on a largely explored world with massive bases and automation/quarries. I know Monster uses far more resources.
I have tried running a server on my own before using MineOS with Atlauncher's Overload. We had a great world for about 1 month. Once we got bigger bases, quarries chunk loaders I started seeing the 'can't keep up' messages. With Mineos I was unable to specify the startup parameters in Eyamaz's thread.
Server specs:
AMD Phenom II 1090T X6
12GB Ram
120Gb SSD HD
So my question;
If I redo my server running Ubuntu, use JDK instead of JRE and do Eyamaz's startup parameters do you feel this would be able to run a stable FTB-Monster server for 4 people once we have larger bases with ME automation, pipes carrying items and multiple dimmesions with chunk loaders/quarries?
Or should I look at a Creeperhost package such as spider? How well do their servers run on FTB-Monster with largers worlds?
Thank everyone for your input.
