Since we have updated to mindcrack v8.1 and the new java 1.7.0_13, it is nearly impossible to play.
our server is at Nitrado, 16 slot with 4Gb RAM, Map is around 850Mb big
our CPU is permanently on 100% (we want to switch to another server soon)

also we have installed Mystcraft (only for portals, no extra dimensions), Minechem, Gravitygun

so...why is it so? is it a problem with Nitrado, Java, or Mindcrack?
anyone else has the problem?

AMD Opteron(TM) Processor 6274 (32 Cores)

thats all i can see.
but as i have heard, the server capacity is shared between multiple minecraft servers, we own only a part of it.

im doing a chunkfix now, maybe thats the problem.
there was someone on our server who explored around 40k blocks

That shouldn't be the problem, those chunks don't stay loaded. With the CPU, minecraft is a single core application. Not sure how opteron works with servers. Are you chunkloading a bunch of stuff?

our Tech-stuff is loaded with chunkloaders.
but before the update it was no problem, thats why im wondering
edit: after the chunkfix our CPU usage lowered from 100% to 50%.
now i have to watch how long this works
edit2: ok...again 96%
edit3: its hopping between 50 and 100...crazy

edit4: searched for the CPU, it has 2200MHz

Look into alternative startup commands. Personally, I'm using:
Code:
cd Desktop/Direwolf20_server
java -server -Xincgc -Xmx3G -XX:NewRatio=2 -XX:CMSFullGCsBeforeCompaction=1 -XX:SoftRefLRUPolicyMSPerMB=2048 -XX:+CMSParallelRemarkEnabled -XX:+UseParNewGC -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -Xnoclassgc -oss4M -ss4M -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:CMSInitiatingOccupancyFraction=90 -XX:+UseConcMarkSweepGC -XX:UseSSE=4 -XX:+UseCMSCompactAtFullCollection -XX:ParallelGCThreads=2 -XX:+AggressiveOpts -cp ftbserver.jar -jar ftbserver.jar
with a huge amount of success. Before I changed this I was having massive problems with lag. I would mine a block and it would reappear half a second later.
Search this forum for a post on startup commands.

is this possible with nitrado servers?
i think its not using the start.bat

edit:
deleted all chunkloaders, 0 players online, still at 100% cpu
so i dont think it is a mod-problem

could it be possible that the map is too big?
edit: a fresh map is at 2%...mh...maybe we should think about a reset

could it be a thaumcraft-aura problem? the file seems to be very big
