I can never quite find the right block I want to use for flooring. Well, actually I can, it would typically be one of the metals... iron or tin are good, but I just dont have enough of either to lay down entire floors with it, even if I microblock them down to covers.
Kind of related to the above problem is that I can never quite find a texture pack I'm entirely comfortable with. I want something smooth (many fit this bill) but not overly cartoony (the main problem) and above all, not too dark (seems to be another common problem).
Johnsmith Tech remix comes close, but it's way too dark. I like Sphax a lot, but too cartoony. Just can't find one that I like.
As for the particulars of design... I'm building a base that's intended to have a "sci-fi" or star-warsy feel to it. I actually laid down an entire 16x16 room with tin covers and it looks pretty good (especially with one of the texturepacks that adds bolts on the edges... I think it was Isabella) but as I said, I'm hoping to find some other options. I also tried concrete, which I like for its smoothness, but I want something lighter. Sigh... maybe just too picky.
Suggestions/advice welcome.
