Hi People,

This morning I was browsing the forums looking for a seed for a possible new world when I came across the following. I'm not sure what subforum the thread is placed in but the thread is called "Official FTB Seed Thread".

Anyways, what I noticed was quite a few people having trouble getting seeds to work correctly (if at all) due to either version mismatches or even simply due to wrong/different FTB packs being used.

Wouldn't it therefore make more sense and make it easier to split the thread up into different threads/subforums, just like the server promotion threads where each pack has its own subforum. That way the thread(s) remain smaller AND focused on only 1 pack rather than all of them jumbled together.

Yes, I know that overall it's a mere matter of reading carefully but heck...why not facilitate???

Just a random though on a Monday morning,
Bel*.

This would become too complicated, and people are supposed to list a few things: modpack, modpack version number, and whether they had generated structures/bonus chest on/off. If people don't do this, than they shouldn't be in the thread. I'm pretty sure the FTB Seed Thread is in Community Showcase. The reason I say it would be too complicated is different versions = different world gen. People would think, "Oh, I'm in the DW20 seed thread, no need to list any info". Also, people would end up posting to the wrong threads, and somehow starting FlameTech Wars on each other. It is much easier to have them all in one thread, and hope they listed modpack and version. I think that if it were in a Google spreadsheet, that would be nice. Or if the OP had spoilers for each modpack and listed its version + the seed + an imgur photo album.

Edit- Sorry if this is hard to read, I am very tired and out of it. I don't feel like sleeping though. XD

Forgot about that. Seed threads are more complicated than you think, OP.

I don't doubt that in the slightest and I understand the point you're making. However, in the current thread people list these OR they don't. As such, creating subforums for each of the packs (Ultimate, Light, Magic, DW20, Mindcrack, iirc) would at least group them.

I agree that the info posters place in there should still be complete in the sense of which version of a pack they play (and possibly what changes to configs they've made).

Yes, but what about the bajillions of other modpacks (private). That would take up way too much space in the forums and look hideous.

Well, I personally don't see the private modpacks as "FTB" packs since they're called private for a reason XD

You wont have to list them all. Some seeds work the same on m ore then one mod pack due to them using the same biome set up. Some mod packs have some biomes disabled by default, others have them all. Split them in that reguard.
Theres many a seed I used on two mod packs and they came out the same due to the same biomes being disabled in both. For thew FTB modpacks, that is really all that is altering the landscape, is what biomes are enabled and disabled.
Shoot Mindcrack has them all enabled, but if I disabled the same ones that are in the FTBUlt, then the land generates the same. Same if I enable all the biomes in FTB, then Minecrack seeds work and gen the same.

There will always be some slight diffs due to mod generated things like valcanos and oil and some other mod gened things but the landscape ends up being the same.
