Summary of the problem Sand in TC smeltery does not create glass

What is the bug? I am playing on a dedicated server version of Direwolf20 1.10.
I wanted to make clear glass so I put sand into my smelter. I have a 2x2x5 internal space smelter. It smelted all but one of the sand and when I went into the smelter controller it showed no glass smelted and said that the one sand couldn't be smelted because the smeltery was full.
It does NOT appear to have created any errors in the forge logs on the client side.
Mod & Version I am running the Direwolf20 1.1.4 pack with NO modifications. AFAIK, the server made only one change: it reduced the morpheus player sleep requirement to 20%.

Is it repeatable? I can repeat the sand smelts with no glass into the smeltery. However, there were other players on the server this time and ALL of them were disconnected with the "client was disconnected" generic error after they got a huge lag spike. You can see where I took screenshots while replicating the bug and then everyone disconnected, as you can see from the "latest" chat log
