Hey,

first of all; english is not my mother tongue so i hope u can understand me at least a bit. ;)

I have two questions for you mincrafters out there. The first one:
Is it still possible to duplicate sand in the mindcrack-modpack? I am one of those minecrafters who uses every "feature" , the game gives me. Also bugs. (wich realy helps when u dont want to spend hours sitting infront of the PC, holding down the mouse-button) ;D I buid one wich should work for 1.4.6 but no duplication. :(

The secon question: I just starded using pulverizers and powered furnances and i wantet to use chests for in and output. Output works just fine but i cant get the input right. I wanted to use them without pipes to have a buffer and dont worry about stuff falling out of the pipes the whole time.

Is this a bug or is there just no way to suck items out of chests this way? I am not sure but when i randomly placed a chest right next to the pulverizer before, it sucked some items out of it but now it just dosn't works anymore,...

Thank you for the help ;)

Thermal expansion machines do not suck items out of an inventory, they have to have things passed to them through pipes. If you want a straightforward system, you can probably just hook a redpower relay up to the input side of your pulverizer, and so long as the connections match up, you should be able to do it without pipes.

I'm fairly certain the sand duplication(if you're using 1 tick pistons) is fixed in the mindcrack version. You could always make an automated cobblestone generator and send the cobble to a pulverizer/rock crusher/macerator for an infinite amount of sand. Personally I use a vanilla cobble generator with a redpower block breaker that sends cobble directly where I need it using pneumatic tubes.

I'm pretty sure thermal expansion can only put items into inventories, you'll have to use a wooden pipe or a hopper to get the items into your pulverizer.

Well this should solve the problem with stuff falling out of the pipes all over the place :) Thanks

As a side note, if you have all your outputs connected to a single pipe, be aware that buildcraft doesnt know which way to send things, so you can get items trying to go into the outputs of your other machines.
i had stuff popping out of my machines constantly because of this.

I made a sand generator using three Thermal Expansion machines: a pulverizer, an igneous extruder, and an aqueous accumulator.

The three machines sit on top of each other. The aqueous accumulator sits on the bottom, in a pool of water, and is set to output the water up. In the middle is the igneous extruder, set to receive water from below and to output cobblestone up (you will need to fill it with some lava, but as long as you only make cobblestone it won't need more lava). On top is the pulverizer, set to receive items from below and output to the side where I have a chest. The aqueous accumulator and the igneous extruder don't require power, so you only need power the pulverizer when you want sand (and a small chance to also get gravel).

No need for the AqAcc, just put in one bucket worth of water into the extruder together with the lava.

I use the aqueous accumulator for making smooth stone and obsidian when coupled with a magma crucible (not mentioned). You are correct that filling the water tank once will work fine and save some space if you aren't using the setup for anything but cobblestone/sand.

Modularity is one of my favorite things about Thermal Expansion. Want a single block cobblestone generator? Done. It just requires a one-time machine cost and the same water/lava requirement as a vanilla cobblegen. Add some water and a little lava and you can convert that cobblestone into smooth stone rather than tying up a furnace network. Add more lava and equal parts water and you have obsidian. All from the same machine just by altering the setup. You can even output the items into different inventories.

Actually, it requires both. The lava requirement is very small (2mb, where a bucket is 1,000mb). I fixed the oversight in the post above.

Instead of using a chest as a buffer, you can use a hopper (Buildcraft, 5slots) or A Relay (Redpower, expensive but a whole chest)
Have the Buffer you've chosen facing towards your machine and set the side to be input

As for sand, you can use any sort of grinder/macerater (AFAIK) to turn cobblestone into sand, so get any type of generator (Igneous or block breaker etc.) and have that pipe into one of those.

Thx for your responses. :) Will try to set up an infinite Energy-source / regenerative energy-source first.

Relays have 9 slots, not a full chest.

or a more complex/larger buffer system you could use a filter and a timer and hook that up to a diamond chest or any other big storage. Its more expensive than the relay, but you get many many slots of buffering and guaranteed no spilling.

Oh right! Sorry, my mistake >_<
