Safe blocks?

So i am building my house and i am playing departed. What blocks specifically prevent spawning? i want to decorate my house and making it all slabs looks really weird. I would prefer ones that are not see through like grass.

All I can say is either use the ExU chandeliers/magnum torch, or incoporate lighting when building and decorating your house.

Lightning won't help when playing departed as it uses a mod that has a lot of mobs that can spawn regardless of lightlevels

Mobs don't spawn on none solid blocks such as glass. They also don't spawn on half-slabs provided they are put at the bottom. i.e. half slab with half air on top.

Ice - They don't spawn

Packed Ice they do

(as said above any transparent block or half slabs at bottom half of that block will prevent mobs from spawning)

BUT use caution when using ice blocks - too close to a light source and they will just melt into a water source.
