Wow that's going to be a mess to clean up. Not even sure where to begin with it that scattered already.

It seems as if you've built a touch to close to a dark node.

Or a little to much thaumcraft without killing the wisps.

Personal solution is to throw down one of those TF2 Sentries, though that mod does'nt come with the modpacks currently. Set them to shoot wisps.

Elsewise..... Crap sorry, I've no idea. x.x I've added a bunch of mods to my Mindcrack to fix issues i normally have no solution to. X3

PortalCraft turrets. Imperfect, but automatic. Just don't walk in front of em. :p

Such pretty, pretty deathballs.

If you've got a lot of forcicum and EU you could put up an MFFS anti mob shield around the area. That'd learn the damn things.

That's why I research goggles asap and make those as fast as possible. Then I build a "shrine" around the node.

My first thought is you did this on propose to get that many.
I've never gotten that many and I have thrown in multiple stacks of stuff trying massive amounts of items before I realized the basic wand could only make so many at a time.

Many wisps are actually non-hostile and they do despawn over time. I rarely kill my wisps, they look sweet flying around my underground forest.

Was offline for a few days, logged on to this mess.. was a bit "W T F"

Never leave your area loaded with a chunk loader if you have a crap ton of flux or living on a dark node. Because wisps don't despawn. They can wander away but if its just a chunk loader they can't go vary far and will just build up.

I had this my first world because a built my base over a Thuamcraft mound. (so I would have access to the spanwers) .

I did find two vary useful things after my wisp invasion. Vary much like yours I had left a loader and came back a few days later. If your on Mindcrack or have the portalgun mod just build some cages out of ironbars with a 1x1 space in the middle and drop a turret in it. The cage will protect it and it will kill the wisps for you. It is not perfect and you will need to replace him a few times but it is something you can do and let run. The next thing once you clean this mess up is box in the node with glass or bars. Give it a block or two to each side and just wall the thing up. The wisps always spawn on the node so the glass box/ iron cage will keep them locked up. The cage thing you can just again plot a turret down. Otherwise just set up your mob killing system of choice.[DOUBLEPOST=1358546465][/DOUBLEPOST]
How close exactly is "a touch to close"? I'm about to build on a hill which is about 150 blocks away from a Barrow Hill...

If you are part of the node. Basically your still seeing its vis/flux which the goggles your still to close. But 150+ sounds fine you might get some random wisps but 150 should be out of chunk loading range for the most part.

Because wisps don't despawn.

Any source on this info? I have a base built entirely underground, and while there is a way out, it is through several narrow and long hallways and up a long spiral stairs. I have the entire area chunk loaded, and after doing some flux generating stuff I have regularly logged in to see 20+ wisps in the large central tree farm area where the nodes are. Upon coming back to base a few hours later, they are almost always gone, with maybe 1-2 left.

No source info. Just what I noticed. As i said I had one that got trapped in a box and it was there for days I even went to the neither to hunt me the parts for a blast furnace and he was still there. did not despawn until I went caving a few days later. I was playing on a server at the time so it was up 24/7 and at the time I was leaving my base loaded with a chunkloader because I was trying to drag a dark node away.
