Title Running FTB_Launcher.jar in Linux; Windowing Requirements

Launcher Type

Modpack Feeed the Beast Launcher

Modpack version 1.4.12 Build: 10412

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file

Details of the issue I have just installed the JRE and trying to start the launcher but it fails to load. Im running Chrome OS and X11 has been replaced by Freon. Before I start adding X11 support I want to confirm what the windowing requirements are for the launcher. So, what are they and how does it wonk on other Linux systems?

Won't work unless oracle makes JRE to work with Freon.

Even if launcher works MC itself probably is not compatible with Freon.

Yes, that what my post says. What windowing systems does it work with?

You're talking window managers? Minecraft works great on Linux. If you're talking about window managers, I've used XFCE and KDE. I haven't tried anything lighter like fvwm, though, so YMMV. Another issue is if your computer has enough RAM--the pack will load with 4GB allocated, but it'll crash after about 1.5-2 hours due to memory leaks.

Might work with window manager but using some window manager makes things easier. Java GUI is like rest of the X11 applications it does not really care about whoch window manager is being used.
