Runic Shielding Question

So I have a handful of questions regarding Runic Shielding (with regards to the latest version of Thaumcraft);
1. The Runic Augmentation mentions that I could add more shielding to the existing baubles at an insane cost. That said, what is the cap on the baubles? Can I have a normal Runic Shield ring with 10 Runic Shielding for example?
2. Is the Runic shielding smart about what it draws from to recharge? What I mean is, say I have two Silverwood Staves in my inventory. One that I am actively using with a foci and one just idling in my inventory, will the shielding draw from the active or idle one to recharge?

at the moment in 1.7 there is no limit to runic shilding as far as i know but i tryed to do one and it asked for 4000+ Praecantatio :s

@sime1ace; and what lvl of runic was that? And was it on a piece of armor or a bauble? And I presume it cost a ton of Salis Mundus as well?

i think it was 9+ salis on neckless so total maby
salis is only for the level u want (10=10shilding) etc...
