I'm wondering what happened. A sequence of Creeper explosions destroyed my Cursed-Earth mobtrap, my Well of Suffering Ritual and damaged my Blood Altar including some intricate pieces of automation. I had been under the impression that Creeper explosions didn't do any environmental damage if no player was nearby. At least I must've heard hundreds going off in my various mobtraps, and never did they any do damage to my builds unless I was in close proximity.

So can anyone explain what happened here and why? I'd hate to have to build my mobtrap from obsidian. I have enough of the stuff, but making changes to it would be incredibly time-consuming.

the one above me explained it but i noticed that your answer to the problem is kinda flawed, when useing a modpack you don't need obsidian. invest some time into say thaumcraft and you can ward your hole base to keep anything, even the wither from destroying the blocks. there are plently of other block options as well to keep out creeper explotions, though im not sure how your creepers are exploding if your not trigering them/ them exploding against something that attacked them

Yeah, I know, but you have to fight the Wither at least once the usual way in order to get the Nether Star you need for the Wand Focus. Or has that changed in the latest TC version? Some people are good at fighting, but I'm not one of them, and this is a major stumbling block.

I'll have to look into my modpack, perhaps there's another way to get a Nether Star.

Don't need to be good at fighting, just need to be good at making OP weapons and armour :)

LOL, so true. Unfortunately, my ability to make those at present suffered a serious blow by exactly the disaster I need the OP gear to prevent in future. I was on my way to bound armor, and my mobtrap doubled as a source of weak blood shards. I have a tier 5 armored jetpack (EnderIO version), but nothing extraordinary anywhere else.

Any recommendation? I don't lack most tech-related resources, but magic is a little behind. No IC2 infrastructure though, so don't recommend its quantum gear. Hmm....maybe the Redstone Arsenal's flux-infused gear deserves a look. I never made those items before.

Not sure in all honesty.

Without modular powersuits in the pack, my goto armour would be Bound Armour. You could look into the armour from TT KAMI (can't remember the name), but I'm fairly sure that also needs you to have a stockpile of nether stars, so you'd be back to square one.

Manasteel or Terrasteel armour from Botania could also be quite nice but having not got that far with Botania yet, I can't vouch for how good it is...

Very good armour, you'll take a wither easy peasy. Just use potions/milk to deal with the wither effect. Not sure what modpack you're playing but in Infinity I **THINK** Wither Cats and Enderminnies go for creepers and cause them to explode, I turned off mob-griefing to deal with this cos it's just daft having my mob trap blow up every hour.

I would play Infinity but it doesn't have Mekanism, so I'm playing Resonant Rise. I like it here better for talking about things though. I hope that's not a problem ;) And yes, I do have Enderminies.

Meanwhile, it took me three hours to repair the damage... this was a real disaster. My mobtrab is located above my blood altar, which is above the rest of my base, so when the first Creeper destroyed the floor of the mobtrap, further Creepers fell down and exploded there. Next time I make a backup before testing such things.

Infinity doesn't have Mekanism, so I added it myself.

I'm thinking about adding atomic science, or the modern equivalent thereof so I can have a particle accelerator and make antimatter, all powered by a Reactorcraft fusion reactor.

And all under the benevolent mastery of Colin...

Well, that was easier than expected. With a tier 5 armored jetpack, bound armor pieces and a good TiC sword, the Wither was almost a cakewalk. I can now properly ward my mobtraps...

You know, the draconic evolution mob grinder can kill the wither easily and does not require a star to build. Would normally prefer to get my 1st star legitimately but this time around I went with the grinder.

Dark Steel bars seem to be wither proof, reinforced obsidian definitely is, you need under 30 to make a Wither killing box that you can literally punch it to death naked in if you want :)

I tend to turn mob griefing off mostly to deal with the bloody Endermen since I prefer to leave the majority of my surrounds as natural as possible and Endermen pock marking is a pain.

Even better, reinforced obsidian can be pushed with pistons. Wither crush trap :)

The only issue with this is that the wither's blast thingy has a tendency to deal damage through corners, so it occasionally blows pistons up.

Don't you need to get to The End to gain access to Draconic Evolution content? That does not appear a good option for the first Wither.

BTW, I tried TC's warded glass to contain explosions. Does anyone know if that should work? As things tend to go, there were no explosions while I was testing this.

How do you turn that off? I might end up doing the same, and for the same reason.

With cheats on do /gamerule mobGriefing false
Not got cheats on? Follow these steps
1. Press esc and then open to lan
2. In the lan settings menu, choose cheats on
3. Then, run the command
