Why are they trying to fight the fire with swords, I wonder? Perhaps it's not not a mundane fire, but rather some kind of fiery elemental. In that case, a hail of ice might not be so useless after all.
"Maybe it's some kind of elemental!" I shout at Jensen as I run after Tyler. I ready my staff to fire off more blasts of ice when I get within range of the burning buildings, aiming in such a way as to not hit any humans if at all possible.

"Not really, no - it's made from graphene with other coatings, mostly, so it shouldn't burn too much, but it'll conduct to my skin quickly, as well as the electronics I've got in there getting fried. Don't worry about me, though - my skin's resistant to heat, in fact I do well in it. You may have noticed, well... a green tinge to my skin. I've got plant-like properties as well as those of humans."

"My armor's pretty fireproof," I say to the others as we climb the hill. "I didn't even need my ship to keep from burning up like a meteor as I fell. I had to bail out when it hit a rock in space, and while it certainly looked to me like I was in the middle of a rather large fireball for a bit, I didn't feel much of it."
I told Cheese in my charsheet that the caps on the staff were made of voidmetal, but the one in the previous pictures had ichorium caps. Here's a fixed screenhot- note that the caps and band are dark purple, rather than orange.
Right now, my character probably is holding his staff more or less horizontally like that as he's running and getting ready to spray some ice. He usually holds it vertically, though.

I shoot the F.L.A.M.E., then I use my grappling hook ability to bring the F.L.A.M.E. close, using joined halek swords (now around spear length) to attack the cyborg very fast. And shit.
