If you're playing a RotaryCraft game, chances are strong you're already using silk-touch anyway to fully leverage the extractor. So this isn't a big deal. Silk touch is easily acquired via tinkers construct among other methods :) And redstone is so prevalent on the lower levels that I now have tons of tungsten in my early game. And extracted/cooked redstone produces....insane quantities of redstone compared to fortune.

True, but it seems wrong to me to rely on another mod. That is the whole point of the magnetostatic tiering, to stop people from just doing TE instead of RotaryCraft. In a world without TiC the tungsten thing would be SUPER annoying.

That's actually a really good argument; getting silk touch with just vanilla mechanics is harsh and massively luck-based. As an example: I've enchanted some 40 books so far in my game trying to get ST for a borer; no luck whatsoever. Its probably less of a big-deal if you have a massive mob-farm-vacuum setup and are reaping tons of xp, but, well, I don't.

Edited: Seems I've answered my own problem. I'm gonna set up a big mob farm simply to spam xp :p

That still sounds super annoying.

You're still right. There's a cheesy workaround, but it would be better if @Reika thought up a creative addition. Perhaps let us process redstone dust itself to get tungsten somehow (something like the isotope centrifuge) or a new way to get silk touch without other mods.

The most likely change will be which ore makes tungsten.
I honestly thought your original idea was really good Reika. The nice thing about redstone is that you can decide what the hell it comprises. If you switch to another ore, you face either adding world gen (which may or may not be appealing, I have no idea), or picking an existing ore and deciding "you can get tungsten from lead ore" which...is a bit sketchy in a mod that strives for realism, notwithstanding that many existing ores are silly to begin with.

Personally I think its a fun opportunity for you to pick an existing machine with less use than others and letting it "extract" tungsten somehow. I don't have any real suggestions, except to say that, in a given world, I generally run things like my pulse-jet furnace for about 10 minutes and then never, ever use it again...

I originally upgraded to v20e. Last night I ran into an issue with the compactor; it wouldn't take power and complained about null something or other. So i upgraded to v20f/g (some things were f some g, which I think is weird).

On loading my world, lots of blast glass was required for everything, but fortunately some other people have figured out how to fix that. In the RotaryCraft.cfg there is a line about blast glass, change that to "false". Other than that, a few of my machines were rotated (a coil winder and a grinder). The coil winder lost its spring :( Over all, not too bad.

Ya that config workaround really saved me; I was close to purging my world and starting over again.

I had no other issues with the upgrade, other than an empty fuel drum mysteriously disappearing. But I've been known to misplace things from time to time.

The tier was balanced against the Extractor and Friction Heater.
