So I have made a semi-automated setup where I put ores in a chest, they go into a grinder powered by an industrial coil (which I have to turn on and off manually). After that, the flakes go into a vanilla furnace powered by a friction heater to get smelted, after which the ingots get transported into a chest. I used opaque itemducts for all the transportation. Here is a screenshot of my setup:

Initially, everything was working fine. Eventually I added in another line of itemducts to transport IC2 rubber wood into the furnace, to be smelted into jungle wood, which got stored in a barrel. From the barrel, the wood went into the furnace once again to be smelted into charcoal. The setup was still working fine.

However, at a certain point, the grinder, MFR harvester AND the jungle wood barrel all stopped inputting items into the furnace, while I hadn't changed anything. Would anyone know why?

Ruling out the obvious first: Is the furnace full? Item ducts seem to need a valid target to transport to before they pull an item out.

Nope. The furnace is completely empty. I mined both the furnace and some adjacent itemducts and replaced them all, it still doesn't receive items. I have also made sure that all itemducts are set to output, are receiving redstone signals, and don't have blacklisted items.

Had to ask.

Have you tried other transportation methods? Not because it would be giving up, but because it might help rule in/out things. For instance, if you tried XU Transfer Nodes (pack permitting), and it still didn't work, you'd know it was your setup rather than the pipes themselves.

Alright, I replaced the pipes with buildcraft pipes and everything worked. Then I replaced those again with itemducts, and everything was working again...

The only thing I can think of is that the furnace became full* at some point, became ineligible for insert, and disconnected from the pipe internally. It then failed to attach to the pipe when it became eligible again.

Pure speculation on my part.

*Since furnace only accepts one type of input at a time, it could become ineligible any time another type of input is queued.

Yep, I have no idea what went wrong. It was working fine all the time, and suddenly it stopped... Can't think of anything I changed (except updating the FTB launcher). Oh well, at least it is working again. Thanks for your help.

EDIT: my igneous extruder stopped working too, breaking it and replacing it fixed it. It seems like all the TE stuff had jammed up for some reason.
