I know that Reika did transfer power with tesseracts, but ElC is fairly useless if you ca just use RF, as:
-RF conduits are cheap
-RF conduits are lossless
So, basically that invalidates ElC entirely, as for some odd reason people aren't willing to set up a mystcraft portal to transport power long-distance.
I wouldn't say entirely. I suspect maybe you're speaking from the perspective of using ReC to create power for your primarily RF base?
I used ElC as a storage medium (since it blows anything-RF out of the water). Correspondingly, I ran lossless ElC wires throughout my base to send that power where I needed it. (they're reasonably cheap).
ElC power conversion is also more flexible, as its not tied to a specific torque level (unlike the magnetostatic).
Its still good for local work, performance issues notwithstanding (doesn't handle fluctuating inputs well; Reika rejected my fix idea; I like to think he has a better plan.)
For the cons however:
Naturally its still terrible for long-distance work. The obvious design route would be for him to devise 1x1 portals for his pipes to traverse. But...despite that his shafts were explicitly coded to traverse portals, and despite the fact that he believes in using tesseracts, he has no interest in pursuing that route because "wormholes are unrealistic."
In Minecraftia.
Where portals natively exist.
Right...
I haven't the patience for it any longer, and I no longer recommend those mods.
