A new version of this mod was just released with as major hilight a new Crafter block. This is an automated crafter that runs on RF and can do up to eight different crafting recipes in a single block. You can use it for crafting multiple independent things or else for doing more complicated multi-step crafting recipes.

You can find it here:

http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...ols-basic-items-and-blocks-centered-around-rf

Feedback is always welcome![DOUBLEPOST=1411129156][/DOUBLEPOST]BTW: here is a preview of the Crafter user interface:

Here you see how it is configured to create chests from wood. The first step creates planks from wood and is set to 'Int' to make sure the output (i.e. the planks) go back to the internal inventory. The second step then creates chests from this and these chest will go to the output buffer (the orange slots).

It is Open Source as SatanicSanta said but keep in mind that I'm also still learning. So it is possible that I have made some mistakes here and there (I would btw appreciate it if you notify me of any weird things that you might find).[DOUBLEPOST=1411240782][/DOUBLEPOST]
You'll be coding for a loooong time, but hey, I wish you luck. This looks promising. The monitor in particular is something I've always wanted.

If you have any feature requests on this monitor feel free to tell me. One thing I would still like to do is to increase the resolution. Now it only has five different steps of output (from dark to bright). I think a bit more precision would be nice.

BTW, just fixed a big bug where breaking the crafter would void all items that it currently had in its inventory. This will be fixed in the next update.

I just released 0.4 of RFTools. First I fixed the bug as mentioned above with the crafter voiding all its items when it was broken. But there is also a new block called the 'Storage Scanner'. This is a device that scans nearby (configurable radius) inventories and allows you to find items in all these inventories. At the moment you can only use it to get a listing of each of the inventories but in the future I will also add a feature to allow searching for items by name. So if you ever forgot where you put your diamond pickaxe you can use my scanner to find it.

The new version of RFTools can be found here: http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...ols-basic-items-and-blocks-centered-around-rf

Also here is a screenshot of the scanner UI:

Let me know if you have any issues.

I just released the first non-WIP release of RFTools (1.00). With the following changelog:

  • The Crafter is now a lot faster and more stable. Several bugs were fixed.
  • Implemented redstone control for the crafter (ignored, off, on).
  • Implemented a slow/fast mode for the crafter.
  • There are now three tiers for the scanner. Warning! This change makes the crafter incompatible with previous versions. So first remove all items from your crafter before updating to this version!
  • The Storage Scanner now implements a searching facility so that you can search for your items in all inventories that it knows.
  • Doubleclicking on an inventory in the Storage Scanner UI will close the window and hilight the inventory in the world. You can use this after searching for your diamond pickaxe and the scanner will guide you directly to the chest containing that.
  • Fixed several bugs in the scanner.
  • The RF network monitor item also implements the doubleclick feature in the list to hilight the block you clicked.

This version is 1.00 because I consider all blocks and items in this mod to be feature complete. That doesn't mean that there will be no more new blocks or that there are no more bugs. Just that what's there is how I want it to be :)

I just posted a new update of RFTools (version 1.01). You can find it at http://www.minecraftforum.net/forum...2-rftools-storage-scanner-powerful-crafter-rf

Here is the changelog:

1.01:
  • Fixed a problem which caused RFTools 1.00 not to work in a server (single player was ok).
  • Disable the Apply, Keep, and Int buttons in the crafter when no recipe is selected. That should make it clearer that those buttons are only relevant for a given recipe.
  • Added chinese translation contributed by ViKaleidoscope.
  • Added a new Power Relay block. This block accepts RF and can send out a specific amount of RF per tick depending on a redstone signal. You can use this to turn off (or slow down) a bunch of machines in case power is low (in combination with the RF Monitor).

The two most important things are the fix to allow RFTools to be used on a server again and the new Power Relay block. Together with the RF Monitor you can use this block to turn off certain parts of your network in case power is low (for example, turn off ore processing in case there is not enough power).

BTW, if any of you here has any other cool ideas of things that are in the spirit of this mod (i.e. related to RF/tech in some way) then please let me know and I'll see if I can implement it. I'm looking for 'not-too-big' ideas which can help in a tech based build in some way.

I just released a new version (1.02) with a bugfix in the new Power Relay block.

1.02:
  • Fixed an exploit bug in the new Power Relay block. As long as it had enough power in its internal buffer it would distribute that power without actually consuming it.

No other changes

It may be a bit early as my mod is still rather small but even so I would like to give people the opportunity to support me. I have big plans for more involved mods in the near future and my current computer is just barely enough to do this modding.

I hate ads on the download link so I will not go that route. Instead of forcing you to support me by adding an ad based download I will give the choice to you. If you want to support me should be your decision. If you want to do this you can do this either by visiting my Patreon page (http://www.patreon.com/McJty) or else you can contribute directly to my PayPal account ([email protected]).

Thanks!

Just released a new version of RFTools:

1.03:
  • Fixed a bug with the RF Monitor where it wouldn't work properly in a server environment.
  • Fixed a bug with the RF Network Monitor preventing it too from working in a server environment.
  • Simplified the Storage Scanner recipe a bit to use only 2 enderpearls instead of 4.
