Will this ever be possible? It would be epic to pilot a spacecraft across dimensions!

(If you don't know wat an Inchworm Drive is, search for it on Youtube)

Not likely. For one, as each piece of your ship went through the portal, it would effectively cease to exist, so your frame ship would basically tear itself apart until a critical component went missing (blue alloy wire, control system, or entire motor), and then stop. Two, this would require frames to compute their own surroundings in their dimension, plus the surroundings of the other dimension too. That would be costly and probably would require a complete rewrite of frames code. But yes, that would be cool.

Yeh, would be insanely cool, but unlikely to ever happen with rp frames. Maybe it would be possible in the future with ugocraft, I believe that the movement in that mod is achieved by converting blocks into entities. Though ugocraft is so horribly buggy and only supported in japanese, i doubt it will be coming to FTB anytime soon...

Great idea, but sadly I don't believe it would work anytime soon with the mods in FTB

Unless you somehow sent it through all at once, and the blocks turned into entities as they moved
But that may result in a horrible bug on the other side whereby they're all mashed into a 1 wide width.

So the way I see it working is if the multiblock structure was treated like a really big entity as it moved, like a ghast.
But I'm not sure how that would go code side.

See, yeah, the way it blinks in and out of existence every time it moves made me suspect it became one big entity, hence why I thought this might work. But, when I actually tried to send it through the portal, it collided with the portal blocks and wouldn't even pass through them. -_-[DOUBLEPOST=1367938149][/DOUBLEPOST]Aaahhh, Ugocraft ...yeah, used that a few times, way too buggy for my taste. ^^ I once tried to combine it with the Zeppelin mod to have ships with rotating propellers and stuff, but ... yeah, I had to mining-laser that monstrosity out of the sky. XD

Aww, turtles can't go through portals either? Bummer, that could have led to some cool builds!

Yeah, but sadly, I can see that as being very hard to code from the modders side.

Awesome once it works, but don't know how well it'd go coding.

Ask elo now, get the response when half life 3 comes out.

jk :p, when half life 4 comes out.

Anyway, if a frame could possibly through the portal, it would need to move both sides, and that is pretty hard, frames by themselves are hard to code.

Seen tron?

Fly a frame platform near a laser. Laser scans in the frames, and everything attached to them. All the bits fly into the tubes attached to the laser, hit accelerators, and are rapidly transported across the map.... where they hit another laser, and are rebuilt.

Tier 9 machines there.

I am in favor of this happening.
Code it tonight!
