Ive been repairing my enchanted pickaxe non stop and its starting to become a hassle to waste alllllllllll of the exp i get just to barely keep my pickaxe from breaking.

Is there any other alternative to repairing enchanted items without blowing 36-42 levels of exp everytime?

I think that you can craft a new identical item, and then transfer the enchantments to it. It will still cost in XP, but not as much as you're currently blowing.

Alternatively, enchant books @lvl 30 each time and hope to get the Unbreaking enchant...helps loads. My emerald pickaxe now has Uunbreaking IV and Fortune III on it and I've not had to repair it yet...

also depends on how you repair it. tools are best repaired using a clean tool, and armor is best repaired using the resources.

Why use a pickaxe ? Why not a diamond drill or better a advanced diamond drill ?

You can use enchantments book on them...

because technically it's a bug. the electric tools of IC2 are not supposed to be enchantable.
that's why the developers of IC2 mentioned that enchanting them might cause unwanted side-effects.
it may also happen that with an update of IC2 the enchantments might get removed.

may? it will happen, they said.

I hope one day I will be able to put fortune on my power tool...

Ok It's a very good reason !

So I will enjoy it as long as I can even if it's sometime too much power in my hands : gosh, my 5 machines are now machine blocks...
