Title Rented server with ftb stuck on startup.

Launcher Type Server

Modpack ftb infinity

Modpack version 2.6.0

Have you modified the pack? No

Link to log file http://pastebin.com/0LG5Pa9G

Details of the issue I already hosted a 2-3 person server on my own PC with port forwarding, but internet isn't the best and performance was pretty bad. So we rented a server with the intention of installing ftb infinity and uploading our world there (I won't name the site, but it's the same as any other). Point being, I have experience hosting a server, but no experience renting one.

I followed this tutorial, but when running the server itself it would always gets stuck at line 251 and nothing would happen unless I press the stop button.

"16.10 21:20:39 [Server] Server thread/INFO [PulseManager-Natura]: Skipping Pulse Natura TreeCapitator Compatibility; missing dependency: Treecapitator"

So yeah that's pretty much it. If I follow the tutorial exactly, I always get stuck on that line and when I experiment with different minor and major alterations, I get different errors.

Looks like a memory issue. Can you provide more info about how much RAM you rented as well as what you did specify for java command line?

Also, to be honest with hosted solutions like that you don't know what is going on under the hood of that control panel. That is why I prefer to rent a server that doesn't have any control panels or other garbage to get in the way. I control it and I set it up. So I know exactly what is going on. In my case I rent a server out of OVH.com and they only thing they did for me was install the linux OS. I did everything else via SSH and SFTP (putty & filezilla). No graphical web interface at all.

It turns out they don't even specify how much RAM the server has, only that it has 5000 mb disk storage. I messeged the site owner asking how much RAM are they allocating to a 10-slot server, they didn't respond yet. I suspect it would be around 1 gb, though. And I was to allocating ~ 4gb when hosting locally... (EDIT: he claims it's 2 gb, and I swear it isn't listed anywhere on the site or ui EDIT 2: nope, 1 gb)

In terms of command line, it straight up refuses to upload any .bat files with ftp, so I assume they are using their own settings, which I can't view or edit.

I also should say, that no one asked me which server should we rent, even though I am the only one with any knowledge on how to actually host a server. I think my friend chose it, because it has a creeper waifu on the front page...

Oh and the server owner won't help with config and refuses to refund the month payment even though we can't run it.

Mod Edit: Removed profanity

Ouch... Sounds like your friend choose badly on the server choice and it is a hard learned lesson.

What server would you recommend for 5 people on ovh? We probably will never have more than 3 concurrent players at any time.

I am thinking vps ssd 3 would be enough?

What I rent isn't available anymore. It is dedicated (not VPS) server. Their bottom line dedicated server is $79 a month now. So very pricey. The one I've been renting for over three years now runs me about $60 a month. You might do better at SoYouStart.com (a daughter company of OVH) but even their bottom end is $49 a month. It is killer machine though. 4GHz with 16GB RAM and 120 GB SSD for that price. But I think these are all overkill for what you are looking for.
