What's up everyone. I host a small server with several friends, and I'm well aware of how feed the beast rendering works. My computer has a nice setup, but when there's 2 or more people exploring unexplored lands, the server tends to lag because of having to render so much at once.

I know that if they're just rendering an area that has been previously explored then it won't cause the server to lag nearly as bad at all. So with that said, is there anyone with knowledge of a mod to sort of pre-render my world for me within a set radius? It would be amazing to just have all the chunks render within a 200 Chunk radius and have it render while nobody is online or something to improve stability for later on when we actually do go exploring.

Any help or tips would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I have BukkitForge so using a bukkit plugin is very possible.

Try ForgeEssentials. Its a forge mod. The worldborder option also has an option to generate all the chunks within the border. If by pre render you meant like the textures and stuff that is purely client side and I cant help with that, sorry

No, you understood what I meant. Server-side only rendering for the unexplored areas. I've heard about world border, but I didn't know it could also render everything within the border. Definitely going to give this a shot, thanks.

Server-side rendering? As in keeping the chunks loaded? Add a chunk-loader encased in warded blocks placed by the system admin ^^* Ofcourse, that would cause issues as it has to keep everything loaded,,, As for simply letting the chunks be pre-generated, I do think Ryanjh5521 is on the right track :)

Mind providing details concerning your computer's setup? What might seem like a nice setup may not be all that well optimized for Minecraft. Server-side is more dependent on a fast processor and storage drive.

It's not his computer that is having issues, in fact he never stated any issues at all. He is just looking for a way to pre generate land within a specified region overnight when no players are on.

He said he's hosting a server. He didn't make it clear if it's the same computer he's playing on or a different one he owns.

It doesn't matter, the worldborder mod will still be able to generate overnight. It automatically stops when the server gets below a certain TPS (Think it is 10) then starts again when it goes up.[DOUBLEPOST=1371038074][/DOUBLEPOST]I generated 5000 blocks out overnight with a computer as crappy as a school one

Actually he did state an issue. Namely that the server is having issues when two or more people go in different directions and cause chunk generated. My assumption that he is using his gaming computer as the server is based on him stating it has a nice setup.

Personally I've only ever played on servers hosted by a friend on his gaming system. His gaming system never really encountered this problem unless literally everyone was running off on their own. Even then it barely occurred as he was using a high-end processor and SSDs for world storage.
