Umm can someone tell me why did they remove Advance Solar panels from direwolf's modpack? Because of the ID collision? It would be nice to see it come back c:

Removed Advance Solar Panels from Direwolf??

As far as I know DW20 has Compact Solars, which does a similar job as Advanced Solars and the 2 also conflict. So to me it looks like DW20 went for Compact Solars instead of Advanced Solars, but I don't know why.

I wish he included both.
I would like to craft the ultimate solar helmet, and i also like the advanced solars a little better too.

As far as I know, even the version 1 of the DW20 pack had compact solar, not advanced, so it has not been removed.
It's just Direwolf20 that asked for this one in particular instead of compact solar, and he did know about the ultimate solar helmet, as he talked about it in his spotlight.
Nothing is preventing you from adding the advanced solar mod, just take the config from Mindcrack pack, and maybe disable the compact solar mod is IDs are the same.

DW20 doesn't have GregTech. I assume he went with Compact Solars because they are much easier to craft than AdvancedSolars without GT (Mixed Metal Ingot recipes). Also, without GT there is no Iridium. Advanced Solars require Iridium.
I assume he did that intentionally to make Solars easier to craft. Direwolf20 is more of a "how cool is that" fun guy that doesn't mind OP things, such as self-crafting solar farms.
Did you try making an HV Solar and substituting that? In theory, HV Solar should have the same Item ID as Ultimate Hybrid Solar, so the Ultimate Solar Helmet recipe should accept it (based on my understanding of the crafting system).
Other than being able to charge things, Advanced Solars and Compact Solars are virtually identical. Though, I think Compact Solars still don't generate at night and rain. But they are cheaper.
But yeah, the two modpacks are mutually exclusive -- they are configured to use the same Item IDs.

The direwolf pack has compact solars because dire requested them. I don't think he is very concerned with making the advanced solar helmet.

To be honest, advanced solars would be easier to craft without gregtech. -You can use the un-nerf'd mass fab to make all the iridium you need.
The only limiting factor would be the urainium needed, but that hits both modpacks equally hard.
(radioactive bees are somewhat hard to breed, but I think Dire is adding extrebees soon)

What about the HV Solar Arrays? I wanna do a quarry with Solar Panels and an upgraded Electrical Engine ( or 2). Will solar Arrays do the job? I wanna get as much speed as I can from my quarry :/

HV solar array produce HV packets of EU (8x8x8 = 512 EU/t)
I doubt that your engines can use that much at once, you are better with the MV ones, they provide 64 EU/t.

Without GT, Advanced Solar Panel is easier to spam than LV Solar Panels, ASP only need 2 machine blocks, but requires advanced alloys and easy mode of this don't even need uranium, whereas LV Solar Panel requires 8 machines blocks. Regarding to Hybrid Solar Panel, uum without GT is very cheap...thus mass producing iridium for Hybrid Solar Panels is not a problem, whereas you need TONS of irons and electronic circuit to spam MV Solar Panels.
With GT ASP is MUCH easier to build than LV solar panel, however IMO Hybrid/Ultimate Hybrid is still harder to build than MV/HV mainly because of the amount of iridium needed.

Yep I don't recal Advanced solars ever being in that pack.
Which leaves this entire thread pointless. As the asnwer is it's in the pack because Direwolf20 wanted it in.
tbh he relies on solars a lot less than most people so it's prob' not a huge factor.
