So I am using a Redpower Sorting System and I cannot to get it to work. The sorted items work fine but unsorted items go to the restriction tube unstead of the white tube. But some items will go through. Any ideas? Screenshots below.

Does the 2nd sorting machine (the one fed via the white tube) allow unsorted items through as well? If not, it'll only be a valid inventory for defined items.

Other possibility: hard to tell from the screenshot, but it looks like the 2nd sorting machine is backstuffed. If it's jammed, you'll need to clear the jam before it will work properly.

Yes here's the screenshot of the GUI for the one you are asking. The other sorting machines were jammed. I found that only items that are sorted by the second machine goes through. So the cobblestone and gravel ect. goes through. Here's screenshots for the 2nd and 3rd machine.
Edit: So I saw something very interesting. I put the another ender chest where the iron chest was so it would create an endless loop. I broke the restriction tube on mid flow and the item (painted white) went down the line and stopped and bounced back at this intersection.

Remove the restriction tube, extend the tube by 1, color it white.

Restriction tubes weren't meant to be used this way. That should be at the very end of the machine/whatever line to catch overflow to be put back in the system, not at the start. This is because slots can open up during item transit. The white color is the color of all items you do not want going past that iron chest.

edit: was beat to it

I'm not really sure what you mean. The system is ment to sort all the colored outputs to chests above & the green colored pipe that processes ores. Then all unspecified items are colored white to be sorted in the other sorting machines. I don't know why they will not flow to the white colored pipe. I remove the iron chest with the restriction tube and one item goes into the internal buffer of the first sorting machine. If I really need to I can PM you and whitelist you on the server. (I own an 4GB private FTB server)

The only reason white would enter though that uncolored restriction tube is if the item has no valid inventory to goto behind a white/uncolored tube. Are you saying when you remove the restriction tube at that point, items flow to the correct (supposedly closer than 5k blocks) places? Do you have a restriction tube somewhere else along the line that you set by mistake?

This issue sounds that you have a clog in your system, meaning it is sometimes reaching over-capacity and lets an item though to the restriction chest. I'd try putting a chest between the sorter and the white incoming tube to serve as a buffer for the sorter.

Okay so I found yet another clog in the system but now the problem is that if an item is not specified in any of the machines (to be sorted) then it will just get stuck in the 2nd machine's internal buffer. I cannot seem to get this to work. I might just scrap it and rebuild it. I dunno.

There should always be an 'everything else' color set at the last machine and beyond that a valid inventory for them to go. I use barrels for that, and at the end of those a diamond chest. The sorters hopefully whenever Eloraam gets to it should have a window of sorts to see what the hell is currently inside them.

Okay so it seems to be working after breaking and replacing sorting machines. Im not sure what caused all the mess but it works now. And btw does anyone know what mod colored glass comes from?

Edit: Ah, I see. "Stained Glass is from Forestry using the Thermionic Fabricator (not sure if I spelled that right).

Edit #2: Another quick question. Do relays keep the color of a painted item that passes through it? I don't think so but I don't know much about red power tubes.

Don't kill yourself trying to get stained glass. It's a pain and a half to make. Use the ceramic dyes from MFR to make your colored glass. Your sanity will thank you.

Relays strip colors.

Okay so I added buffers just to make sure there is no clutter. I have discovered that it is the last sorter that causes all the problems. As it will not output any items. There are pipes above painted yellow & purple. And the white one over by the overflow chest. I included screenshots below.
Here is the setup.

Isn't the orientation of the last sorting machine wrong(small hole is always the output)?
Personally I never had any problem with sorting machines, they always work flawlessly.
I think once I got one stuck but it was totally my fault(put a green color sorting and forgot to paint a tube green, duh).

Yup that was it. Just the last one was oriented backwards.
