Hi all,

I played Technic a lot but I have recently gotten into FTB. The problem I am having is that as I make more quarries I am getting a lot of cobblestone that I have to manually move to my storage. Is there a way to do it automatically? As in I want something that will fill up a chest of cobblestone and then move on to the next without my having to do anything.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Probably, but it might be that a set of factorization barrels and a router might be the easiest way.

Put a few barrels (prefilled each with 1 of the overabundant resource like cobble or gravel). Let the line of transport pipes from the quarry run first over the barrels (need to be on top) and finally into a big chest for the valuables. AFAIK even pipes won't try to fill the wrong (or full) barrels, because they are not a valid inventory for them.

With that setup, I had 3/4 of the abundant stuff skip the barrels and drop in the chest. I tried a diamond pipe before the chest sending cobble dirt and gravel back to an iron pipe at the start of the loop and it just had crap flying around the pipes forever. I finally settled on this setup:

The dirt and gravel are upgraded barrels. Cobble gets sent down a different path to my recyclers

I plan on digging out the wall to the right to expand the setup soon :)

Evil: you're using redpower tubes, but the thread title explicitly wanted a substitute for redpower.

If you have Additional Buildcraft Objects (ABO) use Insertion pipes, they will try to insert stuff if it can so it doesn't cycle around forever or end up in the "valuables chest". You can also use Diamond pipes, but they take some configuring and are a bit more expensive (though that depends on what you value more, Diamond or Redstone).

You can also replace the Barrels with chests if you don't have/like Factorization (like me for example). In that case you need to sort everything (using Diamond pipes) before you send it down a line of Insertion pipes with chests or without ABO just use a line of Diamond pipes.

Awesome! Got several suggestions. Thank you guys. Probably gonna go with the barrels/diamond pipes.

Just out of curiosity, why don't you want to use RedPower tubes?

Railcraft item loaders/unloaders make a viable alternative to RedPower filters and tubes as well.

Make a filter, set it to cobblestone/dirt/ect, and have a tube connecting to the top of a row of barrels/chests, or just transposer/relay into lava/void pipe.
The OP asks a solution without RP2... And I'm pretty sure if he wanted to dump/destroy stuff he also would've said so... That's all I'm going to say.

The Railcraft idea sounds cool, I should really look into how that stuff works :D

Quick question, but why are you using the outdated beta pack when the Mindcrack and Direwolf packs are using the standard block and item IDs for FTB, have less bugs (I think), and more features? Or do you just not want to use Redpower?

Well the DW20 and Mindcrack packs have Redpower. afaik it's working fine in both of them, at least I haven't encountered any issues with RP2 in the Mindcrack pack so far. So you might want to consider switching to one of those packs, especially because some of the older packs won't be supported in the future.

The way I understood it, the new redpower had bugs so it wasn't put into the new version of FTB.

That post is almost a month old and is about a delay on the release of Redpower which is out now. Redpower 2 is in the 2 new packs (Mindcrack and Direwolf20) with the only ones not having it being the Beta Pack, which is not getting updated, and the Magic pack which may or may not even get it when they update it.
