Recently, I built a RedPower Bore. One of the main reasons I built it was to get items from dungeon chests. I soon realized it doesn't pick up drops. Is there any way I can get the stuff in the chests?

I don't think it would be impossible, but it would be much more complex. I think you'd have to have a moving borehead, that wasn't "solid" but rather had gaps where you have transposers, and then due to the movement everything gets broken anyway.

I would not recommend it though.

Seems to me it's a rather strange approach to just getting some dungeon drops? I mean, if you have the bore pointed at a know dungeon location it's easier to just go there and get the stuff. If you don't know the dungeon location your bore is going to not hit most of them. Since dungeons can be anywhere you're probably better off using quarries, which dig up everything and also pick up stuff from the chests they break.

What exactly do you mean?

I told you in my previous post. Dungeons are few and wide apart. You're not going to hit many (if at all) with just blindly letting a tunnel bore go through the world so trying to pick up drops you're not really going to get is kinda silly.

The bore is huge, over 2 and a half stacks of block breakers. It's primary use is to collect resources, but I'm also looking for a portal gun.

To get portal guns you're better off creating a flat mystcraft age and raid thaumcraft dungeons and spider trees. They're very easy to spot on the map. Anyway, not saying you should not, just letting you know that even with a big bore in theory you could run out of room to bore without hitting one. Dungeon placement is completely random and so is the chest contents.
