So I did some serious string hunting the last few days and finally got enough to toss together the big upright windmill! The thing is amazing!!!

I'm having a minor issue though. I've got it built above my house, free from any obstructions around level 75 or so. I'm also in the middle of a desert. I understand this may not be the "best" location, but do biomes play a large factor in wind power production? It produces ok at night, but is very slow during the day. Was it silly of me to build in a desert?

I think the only things that effect them are height and obstructions. Oh, and weather, of course. But deserts still get the weather, even if it doesn't actually rain...

Bit of a silly question, so sorry for asking, but your battery boxes aren't full are they? I'll be honest I haven't played with them myself yet, but from watching DW20's videos he showed that when they have nothing to power they shut down, well sort of, they just run really really slowly, until they are needed.

See, now I feel like a goober... I didn't check all of them, but the left side was full. It didn't look like the right storage was full yet though.

When doing some creative mode testing, I wanted to see how a windmill powered quarry worked, so I set one up. However, I was in a desert and the windmill hardly moved at all. Worked great when I moved it out of the desert.

Ugh, that stinks. Any one know if there is an option in the cfg to fix this?

Although it does seem to spin faster at night in the desert. Any one else notice this? I'm pretty rooted and don't want to move.
