RC only adds three steam engines: hobbyist, comercial and industrial. None of them output any other energy form than MJ :D.
Wrong RC. ;) The one in question here is Rotarycraft, not railcraft (I think). :p
It could be that the Electric Generator is for Electric-Craft, though I'm probably wrong there. :p
What kind of engine are you powering the electric generator with? Maybe there's not enough power being supplied?

@midi_sec : I think, I'll bounce that one back to you. Didn't you realize that big green grinning thingie at the end of my post?;)
@techno156 : There was, is and will be only one RC! Eva! :D You youngsters will have to make up your own acronyms for your wolfling mods.:)

Kidding!

I have never tested the UE generator; it may well not function. However, I get the feeling that the OP tried hooking it up to a DC engine, which would generate so little UE power that it would probably fail to register.

Also, the mod that the generator depends on is the UE Core mod itself. Without that there, those machines are unavailable.

Reika,
I had it hooked up to a Steam generator, to my AE system that was eating 126kw/t it was grossly under-powered. I'm currently having a bug with RC not wanting to play nice with anything but RC on the FTB Monster pack. My AC engine hooked up to my AE system is no longer giving power(I had it working just fine for a week), the RC fluid pipe is no longer taking fluids from my aqeuos accumulator(had it working too), and other derps(boring machine not dropping anythign even when I have it set to drop items). I'm giving my server a restart to see if it's just a minor server derp. But I'm now generating ~160kw (10 steam engines) to feed my AE system that eats 126kw/t and I'm getting nothing to register there either.

I do not have any of these bugs.

No you don't, but my server does when its due a restart to clear memory my ticks were operating slow in the AC generator. With a computercraft clocking program to generate the Redstone clock.
I figured out I needed a shaft between my rotarycraft setup and my AE for it to be happy. Still not sure why my rotarycraft fluid pipes aren't accepting liquid from an aqueous accumulator I had done it before.
It seems energy won't directly convert from the 3 way gearbox (forgot actual name) so to get AE to accept the energy I had to put a shaft between the two.
