Hi :) well, as the title says, I've been experiencing lag with every modpack on the FTB launcher. Usually, I can play any modpack with 30-40 FPS on fast and short. The last couple of days, though, I've been lucky to get 10 FPS on fast and tiny with Optifine installed. I don't know if anyone else has or had this problem, as I understand that lag is different for everyone. Before posting this, I looked everywhere for possible solutions. I uninstalled and reinstalled Java, to no avail. I tried allocating less RAM, more RAM, uninstalling Optifine, updating Optifine, playing modpacks with the fewest mods. I miss my FTB :( any advice or help in any way would be much appreciated! If necessary, I can post the logs on Pastebin, but there are no errors to report.

System Specs:
Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit
Intel Pentium B950 @ 2.10 GHz
4.0 GB DDR3 RAM
Intel HD 4000 Graphics

If anything else is needed, don't hesitate to tell me! Thanks in advance! :D

Updating your LWJGL can give a significant boost in performance. When you check your terninal, check which version you use. If it says 2.4.2, update to 2.9.0.

You'll need to do this for each instance until we update to 1.6.x.

Having said that, you're running Windows 8 on a dual-core processor and 4 GB RAM. Honestly, I'm surprised your system even boots up.

To further complicate things, you're using an integrated GPU with shared memory. Which does... unlovely things... when trying to run heavily modded Minecraft. The more memory you dedicate to your GPU, the less RAM your computer has to actually run the game.

Quite frankly, you are hitting hardware limitations. Try capping the RAM for FTB Launcher to 1GB, if you have it set higher, and you might get better performance.

Really? You're surprised it even boots up? That's a fantastic thing to hear! Hahaha. But I've never messed with the LWJGL files before. How would I go about updating it?

First, you download it here

Then you replace the three .jar files that aren't minecraft.jar in your minecraft/bin folder with the ones you just downloaded.

Then you go into your /minecraft/bin/natives folder, and replace all the things with the ones in the appropriate natives folder you just downloaded.

I can't guarantee a performance boost, but it can't hurt. You can also look at Optifine and see if that helps, but sometimes it hurts more than it helps.

Well that definitely helped! I've been getting around 20 FPS now, which is an improvement! It's getting there! Thanks for your help!
