RAM usage issue

I don't know where else to post this, so if I'm breaking the rules just take this post down (sorry!) but I've been hosting a FTB server for a month in CreeperHost and with their 1GB package (around $16/m) I can't handle 4 people online, because it keeps crashing, and we're not even using machines like Quarries or World Anchors, just macerators and whatever (we're kinda slow)

So I was wondering if anyone can PM me their recommendation, knowing my needs (4 people max. online) and budget ($16/m). I'd deeply appreciate it, I'll give you dem cookies!

Minecraft in general is a ram hungry application (yay java) but i have found that these mod packs are more CPU heavy but 1gig is not alot

Our CPU is always < 10% usage, the RAM is our main issue apparently :\

1 gig should hold 4 people without the large machines... do you have multiple worlds/spread far apart from each other with multiple sets of chunks loaded at a time?

Regardless... it IS ram heavy unfortunately but adding some ram is always a good idea

Well out 50 player server uses 5gig avg with out biggest peak at 10 when we genned all the new chunks so id say your not far off the sweet spot needed depending on the amount of players u want

You will find that 1gig will not be enough at all. With zero people on my server it uses up around 1gig but i have 8 gig dedicated to the server. so i won tbe running into any issues anytime soon. i think your looking at around 2 to 3 gig to handle it. Im currently running my server of a powerfull dedi with 16 gig of ram. if your intrested i may be able to host you your server with 3gig at $25 a month.

This is not true, I play on a buddies private server with 1 gig (3 of us) with no issues (Thats 1 gig dedicated to minecraft). Unless creeperhost includes the OS ram usage within that 1 gig than you should have the full 1 gig to run the game with 4 players.

Yes, it is a direwolf server.. I dont think there would be TOO big of a difference from the mindcrack pack.

I'd suggest giving them a call and seeing if things are all running fine with their VPS. Since its shared it may be an issue that they can resolve on their end without a cost.

Posting here, asking questions is never a bad idea... he was gauging the severity of his issue before consulting the company wasting their time.

I have a betaA server for 3 people and the ram usage varies between 500m and 1.6G
also every vps you that exists counts total ram usage so thats MC + operating system + anyother services running
