Hello all,

First post here, glad to be apart of the FTB community. Anyways on topic...

I'm looking for a way to switch specifically chest carts to another track while allowing regular carts to continue on the same line.

The setup is a single track from Point A to Point B. We normally just throw a chest cart on the track, however sometimes it gets stuck in the way when we are trying to travel along the way. I'm trying to avoid building a separate track for the chest carts, so here's my pitch.

At some point on each side of the line, a detector is placed. Not sure if there's a detector for storage carts, but if there is add this in. At that point upon detection a redstone signal is emitted and a switch lever somewhat further up the line switches so the chest cart goes to a smaller section of another track to it's end point.

Does this make any sense or even possible?

It's entirely possible. You want the Detector - Storage block (8 Planks around a stone pressure plate). Place it under any rail and it will emit a redstone signal when a chest cart goes over it. You can wire that into whatever you like. YOu could also do detector rails, but I find the block easier to work with.

Well that was my question, thanks! Detector rails on their own wouldn't work for my situation. As there's two types of carts going over the track, carts, and storage carts. Are you talking placing a detector rail over the detector block or should i just use a straight track on top of the detector block?

Okay, I think i'm encountering a bug here, but not sure. I'm using the latest version of the Mindcrack Pack on SMP, neither the Advance Detector inputed with a storage cart, or a regular Detector - Item are outputing a redstone signal. I've tired with both wire and regular redstone as well as on all sides of the block. The light on the detector does light up to show it has detected, but thats it. Any suggestions or info?

The "light" on the block is the side that the redstone signal is output. I believe you can change it using the crowbar
