Questions about Forestry 2 farms

I can't get the orchard working and can't find the answers as to why, so can someone answer me these please:

1) Will an orchard work underground?
2) Does it require a set clearance above it if underground?
3) How much power does the orchard need?
4) Do I lay Humus or Dirt?
5) From the wiki I expect it to plant the seeds is this right?
6) I came back the following morning to see 90% of the Humus I laid the previous day turned to sand, I wasn't sure if the new farm did this or one of the old farms or whether humus naturally decayed into sand (the new farm didn't pick the sand up, or any apples for that matter).

This is the smallest farm with a circuit board present with 4x orchard on it.

1) As long as the fruits can grow underground: yes.
2) No, as long as the trees grow.
3) Find out.
4) What your fruit tree/bush needs.
5) It doesn't, it's a manual farm. Everything you only need to setup once needs to be done by you. Since an orchard does not chop down trees, that includes planting those.
6) Humus will decay over time. For an orchard, prefer dirt.

Hmm well I had oak trees up all night and no apples in the morning so something is not right, thanks for the answers btw.

Apples need at least 2.0.0.4 to work. Orchard before 2.0.0.4 will only harvest cherries, walnut and/or chestnut.

Well, crapballs. Looks like everything I want out of Forestry needs 2.0.0.4. Come on, Monday!
(after a year of making an FTB sized modpack for my private server of four, I'm done manually updating anything on the server :-D)
