Hello fellow Minecrafters!

I would like to host a modded server for myself and one, up to 2 friends of mine to play in. (Max. 3 people.) The pack I would like to use for it is the Direwolf20 1.6.4 modpack, since it is the one I am most familiar with, and I would like to know whether I can host the server AND run a client of the modpack for myself at the same time, on this system:

CPU: Intel Pentium G630 2.7 GHz
GPU: ATI Radeon 5770 HD Series 2GB
RAM: 4 GB DDR3
HDD: 150 GB Partition.
OS: Linux Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit

Again, the server will only have 2 people on most of the time, and, potentially, up to 3. Finally, if the answer is Yes, I can run the server and client at the same time on it, how much RAM should I allocate to the server, and how much to the client? (I currently have the latter on 3 GB for single player, but it never seems to go above the 1600MB mark, and it runs quite smoothly.)

Edit: If the answer happens to be No, then, it would be nice, if possible, to suggest one/some other similar-ish pack/s for us to play in. (Except for the obvious one, FTBLite. That one lacks most of my favorite mods, so I only have it as a last resort on my list. :l )

Thanks in advance, and I am sorry if this happens to be the wrong section for such a question.

"Intel Pentium"
This processor is much to weak to host a server, much less both server and client. I suggest upgrading the processor to at least an i5. Also, keep in mind the server will need around 2 gigs of RAM minimum, as will the client, so that will eat up all 4 gigs of RAM, so you need to upgrade to at least 8 gigs of RAM. The harddrive is meh, an SDD is suggested. The GPU should be fine, and the OS is perfect. Also, what is your upload and download speeds? Internet speed is very important when hosting a server as well. And finally, keep in mind that hosting a server and using the client on the same computer will hammer your computer.

No matter the pack, you could not host both server and client on the same computer with your specs. :/ Unless it was a 1.2 pack or maybe a 1.4 pack.
