Hello

Is there any modification or mods that interfare with how the "world rain" is generated in FTB? It seems like our server has rain that sometimes only lasts for 2 seconds, like glitch, and that in general it is much more rain than on normal minecraft.

Is this just the me and my pallys going nuts, or is there anything done to mechanism of making it rain?

Thanks!

I think there is a bug in extrabiomesXL that sometimes causes this.

Extra Biomes adds some new biomes that get more rain: Rainforests. I'm not sure if any others affect this, but am quite certain a rainforest leads to lots of rain. Accidentally plopped down an old house inside a rainforest. Solar Panels don't do too well there:(

If everyone sleeps through the night, rain will stop shortly after everyone wakes up again. This is a vanilla mechanic.

Forestry adds the Rainmaker, a device that can start or stop rain at will, depending on what kind of "ammo" you insert into it.

Hmm. Interesting.

So bug with Extra biomes seems the most reasonable. To prevent it using rainmaker was a good tip. Would like extra biomes to have a "option" to disable the rain generation (to avoid bugs and crashes with regular minecraft raingeneration)

Thanks for good responses! =)

Just a short definition.
Rain isn't really generated.
After a certain amount of time, it simply turns on. Then the clients start displaying it.
I think what is happening is that extrabiomes doesn't want it to rain in certain biomes, so the client then turns it off for those biomes.
Then something happens for the server, where it is still raining, to update the client. So the client start raining again, and extrabiomes turns it off again.

When it happens, try going to a different biome and see if it is raining there.

That doesn't explain why it almost never seems to stop raining once it starts sometimes, though maybe that's Mystcraft's fault...

Nope, I was not. I was around a redrock biome and a snow biome, and was positioned in what looked to me to be a temporate biome with very few trees other than the enormous ones I've only seen in Mystcraft. (I don't think those are from Extra Biomes, thus don't indicate the biome...)
