Question on updating between pack versions

So running my first multi player server with the DW20 1.0.8 pack. If I update the pack on the server and move the world over should everything still be fine? Or do I need to stick with a pack version once I make the world and folks are playing in it?

(obviously folks would have to update their clients too)

It all depends on what has changed between the versions. Some versions just fix a bunch of bugs. Others might remove a lot of blocks or change the world gen.
You can always backup your world and then patch to see what happens. If it doesn't work then you might be out of luck.

Will try sometime soon to upgrade FTB Monster 1.0.1 --> 1.0.5, but there is a lot of changes and new mods between those versions so I don't know if it'll work.

Yeah as long as the packs are still in beta you will have to read through the Changelongs and threads on the forum for titbits of information. Some versions can only be updated with mixed success due to quite large changes.
I would personally recommend against investing too much in a world until the pack in question is out of beta.
