Just curious, does anyone know what changed between 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 that has made it difficult for mods to update to 1.5.2. Seems to be taking some mods awhile to update that usually are updated fairly quickly. Or is it that real life has taken the mod developers away and its just a coincidence?

Many mods aren't even at 1.5 yet, so they technically need to update twice. Also some of them might not be bothering considering 1.6 will be out soon.

I think the whole. "Recoding of the image directories" that was mentioned by Mojang months ago.
Plus a lot of redstone, block updates, miscellaneous code changes... That were also mentioned..

Do you guys actually follow updates and Mojang news??

Give it time.

he asked "between 1.5.1 and 1.5.2"
The stuff you mentioned didn't happen in that period and is therefore none applicable.

AFAIK most mods (bar mystcraft) have now updated to 1.5.2, and according to the changelog the changes in vanilla were primarily bug fixes, but sometimes a "fix" can cause problems if it changes or thing that a mod relys on to run fundamentally.

Here is the thing about updating code. From the outside something that might look simple could come with a whole host of things that make moding take longer. So trying to say X feature or change is the reason can be hard to point out. Something as simple sounding as 'Fix ponies' could have touch or altered so many hidden parts that a mod has to go and update dozen of things.

So no don't know waht changed between 1.5.1 and 1.5.2 to make the mods take longer. Maybe a modder would be nice enough to enlightent us. But to be honest that would be like asking your mechinac (or acountent for you folks that are better with cars then numbres) what happen to make your repair (taxes) take longer this time. Basicly full of jargon that unless your into coding yourself will be meaningless.

Apparently being in the presence of shoop can make updates very slow.
Don't have any evidence to prove this, but I bet they're too busy putting up fences to keep the goddamned sheep off their land to mod.

They are trying to figure out how to mod in Shoops but upgrading the default sheep is becoming problematic because of the advanced AI needed to make them work correctly as Shoops.

Thanks for the replys guys. I know code isnt just easy to fix. I write code every now and then but nothing serious. I was just curious if anyone knew of anything big. I know some mods havent updated to 1.5 in general but most have. It just seems like some mods (mystcraft, soul shards, etc) arent updated to 1.5.2 but are on 1.5.1

Well I'm guessing that a lot of them are compatible between 1.5.1 and 1.5.2, such as GregTech.
Soul shards and Mystcraft focus on more obscure mechanics that are more likely to be changed on short notice.

And when it's summer and not raining every day, people tend to have a lot more distractions than in winter.
In winter Inspent like 2-4 hours a day on MC, but lately I have only been on like an hour a day, most of that spent trying to work Get 1.5 working (first time using MultiMc)

But luckily neither of those mods add world gen.
Creating an age and then removing mystcraft would probably be VERY bad, however.
