Hello,

I am currently running a server that has Mindcrack v8.2.0 with everything from the Direwolf20 v5.2.1 pack joined together. Yes, everything works perfectly fine, thankyou.

I am noticing that among all other plentiful ores, Iron is very hard to find.

Without segueing abut that fact, lets just say I really want to decrease the rarity of things like iron, copper, tin, etc.

I know some mod's stuff won't allow that, like maybe Quartz or Xychromium, but what about iron, copper, tin, etc?

I have looked around through some configs, but I may have missed something.

Thanks for the help!

Inside the thermal expansion config you will find what you want. I do not see anything for iron, but there are configs for copper, ferrous, lead, silver and tin.

Look in the folder cofh for the file thermalexpansion.cfg Under the world header then the tweak header.

Like lavarthan said, what you want to do is look inside the TE config for the ore configs. You need to change:
B:vanilla.augment=false to B:vanilla.augment=true then you will have to get in game again for the lines for vanilla ore gen to appear. I don't think this changes the vanilla gen, it just adds extra veins so keep that in mind.

You can play around with the numbers, they are self explanatory.

I run into the same problem, but honestly it's easily overcome by not relying on iron ore for iron. Using a minium stone turn: 8 logs > 4 obsidian > 1 iron. Or, make an iron golem farm (lots of places to find a plan for that online). Or, turn junk items into scrap and use that to make UU-matter, to make iron. Or if you're like me and tin seems rarer than gold, use Thaumcraft to turn metallic objects into tin. Or breed some bees that make whatever metal you want.

What I'm getting at is that changing the world gen configs is much less interesting than finding another way to get what you want, considering the fact that the whole FTB experience is all about giving you more options to getting what you want.

Thanks so much for the replies, I am very happy that you guys are so helpful. I was worried I'd get flamed, honestly! And sorry about the delay, crunch time in college and all.

Since I use the configs standard for mindcrack and direwolf20's pack, vanilla augment is already true, but I never knew that their settings would appear only after the game was loaded. I can see them now, but all of the stats are 0. All cluster sizes and number of clusters are 0. Is this a problem, or does it just mean it will use the default? I am going to back this config up and then put in my own values.

Thanks for the other suggestions, I am still learning what these mods are capable of, so it's fun to discover solutions! However, it's hard to build an electrolyzer without any iron! =P

Here's a suggestion: don't go too far in poking around at the settings to make it easy. If it's easy to get everything you're after, you will get super bored, super fast. Fun is in embracing the challenge.

Yes, I agree. I've taken that into account, but I don't test or inhabit areas that have not already been generated, and no one has been shocked about how much ore there suddenly is elsewhere, so I guess it's okay. I just wonder if it's working at all. It was all 0, like I said.
