I'd think the suit would be quite vulnerable to burning no matter how you might come across it.
To put it simply, I don't think you'll be able to swim in lava in a powersuit anymore unless there's a module for it.

You would think that but back when i did play with MPS I would Jump in lava while mining in the nether to recharge like it was nothing.

Nope don't really miss it. I can piller and jump just fine. Flying is just way to over used and remove almost all the diffculty when it comes to dealing with mobs when combined with any sort of ranged attack. It ends up being one of those things that is just too good. Some of the older modes were nice as they did not allow for unlimited flight. But MPS and other flight options either have huge power stores and/or ways to self charge that they are limited only on paper. TC does flight fairly well and so does do the IC2/GT jetpacks when you dont have self charging helmets.

Flight also makes exploring way to simple so much you can tend to miss stuff as you zip along not to say anything about the chunk loading lag high flight can cuase on servers.

No to me flight should be limited it is one of the few things dartcraft does in an non-op way.
I guess it is OP for mobs, though its not as if they're a challenge anyway once you've got enchanted diamond armour (which doesn't take THAT long to get even in vanilla). I really only use it for building and travelling at speed.

While the railgun is the only thing that would inflict heat damage on you, (in the mmmps mod) that's not to say the suit wouldn't just shrug it off. That would be kind of pointless.

Or you brew a fire resistance potion, but that goes without saying.

Well, you could argue that heat shielding already does this (ableit indirectly) by giving you longer before the heat buildup from lava becomes lethal. To be honest though, once you've got fire resistance potions its completely trivial anyway - its really only saving you a few inventory slots and a trip to the nether.

It was what ever verion of MPS RR had before public release so fairly recent.

I Just installed Heat Gen maxed that out, Heat sinks in every part of he suit, and force feilds until I had full armor. Install the tinker mod for the tool so tyou can adjust on the fly. You cant stay in lava forever but you can defently swim around for awhile and charge your bats.

I stopped doing that after a while. But found a completely diffrent way to freeing super charge the armor. Portal guns and the kenetic gen. Just put a portal some distance away and where you are both on the cieling and then just fly up. Free unlimtied power.

But heat is one of the few balancing things MPS uses so yeah ever update seems to change just how it works (one of the resaons I would have the tinker in the glove) there has been more then once after an update I would have to tweek the heat sink settings. Might be harder to do now dont know have not touched MPS since RR reset there server and went public and don't really plan on picking it back up.

You can also make the quantum helmet act as a light helmet in the configs, though I don't know why you'd want to. The constant lighting updates are both annoying and create fps lag, which is even more annoying. Just use night vision.

It seems the railgun is the only thing which causes MPS heat to actually be an issue...

I checked the IC2 Config and can't see where that option is. Am I looking in the right file?

Tried it and nothing happens. Is there a key I have to press or is it automatic? Might be disabled in the mod.

I'm checking all the config file and the crafty bastard has the same functions of the Quantum Suit in several files. Have to change them all.

EDIT: changed the three files those setting were in and still nothing. Mod Maker of IC2 must have disabled it.
