Question about FTB infinity hard mode on a server

Say I have 3 people, 2 do not want to play on hard mode but the third does, all three want to play on the same server. Is there a way to set one person (or more than one) into hard, while the rest remain on the normal infinity?
 
That person may as well play single player... they will not be able to collaborate with the other two without defeating the purpose of expert mode.

I assume you mean expert mode right? And not hard difficulty?

I do mean expert mode yes, but there are purposes of playing on a server other than collaboration. do you know of any way that this may be possible?
 
No, I believe expert mode is tied to the world not the player. Don't quote me on that though.
You may as well run another instance on your server for the expert players and install an IRC plugin that lets the players use the chat for both. That or just get or find a team speak server.

I run an expert mode server.

Expert mode is 'server based' and is a mode that is activated by the Server Administrator (or OP) running a command to set the server to expert mode.
As such, you have to decide if the server itself is an expert mode or normal mode server, all of the players who connect to that server will therefore
experience the same play-style.

However, expert mode can be turned off with no ill effects that I have seen.

So I'd say to give expert mode a go and see how things go.

Personally, we love expert mode, it definitely invokes a fair bit of head scratching as you try to figure out how to get things done, but to our little
group that's half the fun!

If you become a REALLY savvy server admin/OP you could set up what is called Bungee cord. Lets you set up separate servers that your players can almost seamlessly teleport between both server clients. So you can have one normal mode side and the expert side and the players can warp in between the two with separate inventories for each server.
Vanilla servers utilize this the best for minigame servers. But I've seeb it done with modded MC.
