Question about Dragon Egg Energy Siphon

According to the wiki it generates flux if thaumcraft is installed, which explains the environmental damage bit.
 
Hey, so I just came across this page. the answer to your situation about the egg exploding is a simple one. If you try to wrench/mine/break the siphon while the egg is still on it, the siphon is made to explode and also destroy the egg. The safe way to keep both is to remove the egg from the siphon first, and then remove the siphon.

OP has probably figured this out by now and there's plenty of info on this out there now. Please check to see if a thread is several years old before reviving it.
